Lean into your barriers
You may find that those walls aren’t as strong as you originally thought.
As humans, we like to think that we’re much less capable than we really are. Perhaps it’s a form of self-preservation but mostly it seems like limiting beliefs are a hindrance. It can be challenging to notice an internal barrier because you’re conditioned to believe it. It’s like it’s so obvious that you can’t even see it. But once you do, once it becomes so blatantly clear, it becomes impossible to ignore. This is the first step to annihilating your barriers.
By seeing the limiting belief and acknowledging it from a place of non-judgement, you bring it out of hiding. When it’s no longer lingering in the shadows of your own mind, it can’t control you without you realizing. You’re now in a position where you can explore it from a place of curiosity. You can begin to ask, is this limiting belief true?
When you identify a barrier placed on your own capabilities, you’re given the power to use it to your benefit. Begin by replacing that thought with its opposite affirmation. When you hear that limiting voice chime in, gently acknowledge it then fill that space with a positive thought in the present tense.
For example:
Limiting thought: I shouldn’t be a leader, I don’t know what I’m doing.
Affirmation: I am a leader. I am enough.
As you begin to get into the habit of replacing the limiting belief with a positive affirmation, you’ll notice just how much you were living with limitations. Use this to your advantage. Keep your eyes, ears and heart peeled for opportunities to live your affirmation. Start leaning into your barriers instead of hushing them.
When you’re given the chance to explore your limitation, go into it with your affirmation in mind and see how it transforms the experience. The mind is a powerful tool, it can strip you of power you hold or give you a boost. It’s all about mindset and the perception of self.
The more you put yourself in these uncomfortable situations, the more normal it starts to feel. The more you repeat your affirmations to yourself, the more you begin to believe them. One day, you’ll look back on this limiting belief and wonder how it ever blocked you so much in the first place.
