Badass Millennial: Sophia Amoruso
Have you ever heard of Nasty Gal? If you’re a sucker for online shopping, you probably have. What started as a one person company operated out of an apartment has turned into a $100,000,000 business in just 7 years. Sophia, the millennial entrepreneuse, shares some insights on what it takes to take your idea from a solopreneur venture to a highly successful enterprise. In this video, she talks about the importance of understanding your customer and maintaining your voice through scalability.
It’s hard not to be inspired by the down to earth business owner. I always appreciate a leader who’s willing to admit what they don’t know and make adjustments as they learn. She shares a bit about learning to accept things as they come rather than deny them, which takes much more energy. Her primary methods of authenticity and intuition are inspiring. My favorite part is when she shares her nugget of advice: “Know what you’re good at and hire around your weaknesses. Don’t be afraid to trust people”.
I’m excited to read her book #Girlboss to absorb more knowledge of what it takes to “do something awesome”.
